Francization for all
I invite you to read my article What is francization? If you ask yourself the question.
Here, I want to explain how my online francization course works.
First of all, I created the course to facilitate access to the francization course. Too often, newcomers must immediately find a full-time job to support themselves and their families.
Stress is very present in these situations. Although there are francization programs in the workplace, there is a lack of qualified personnel to offer quality courses.
The schedules of francization courses offered in schools are not suitable for everyone.
Distance learning exists, both at the Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration (MIFI) and in school service centers, but only for levels 3 and up.
What about beginners?
This is one of the reasons for creating my online francization course.
Super simple for registration: you need a credit card. For residents of Quebec, it is possible to have tax receipts when you learn Quebec French for work.
Then, you are totally autonomous/independent in your learning. The lessons are pre-recorded. There are no monthly fees.
The course is divided into modules. You buy one module and when you’ve completed it, you buy the next one. You have access to purchased modules as long as 100%Québec exists.
So you can revisit any past modules whenever it’s needed.
Basically, if you take 2 months to complete a module, you pay nothing more than the price of the module.
Course content
The course follows the francization programs of the MIFI and the Ministry of Education. The levels are divided into modules. The learning modules are divided into chapters. The chapters, which are called Lesson, deal with a subject to be mastered.
Each lesson is almost always built in the same way:
- vocabulary
- learning
- exercises
- pronunciation
- dictation
There is sometimes a quiz at the end of the lesson. There may be readings and listening to do.
The number of hours spent on each chapter/lesson depends on the complexity of the subject matter and your learning speed. Each lesson is divided into sections. Each section is a different length.
Ideally, it takes an hour to learn French and make some progress through a lesson.
For example, there are more than 10 hours of video for Level 1 Module 1. Add the time you need for vocabulary translation, exercises, dictation correction, etc. Lesson 1 has 1 hour and 40 minutes of audio-video content.
The course content is the same content as what is taught in full-time courses. You have the advantage of learning at your own speed and repeating a lesson as many times as necessary.
You also have the possibility to communicate with the teacher by asking a question in the comments section or in the Facebook group of the course. You are never alone. You can count on a community to help you progress.
